Obituary: Paula L. Vinton

Paula L. Vinton, at 76
Paula L. (McHugh) Vinton of Hull died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 18, at South Shore Hospital from complications from pulmonary fibrosis. She died, surrounded by her loving family and friends, at age 76.
Mrs. Vinton was born in Boston and was graduated from Dorchester High School. After working as a stay-at-home mom for 18 years, she entered the business world at Westinghouse in Hyde Park. In 1978, Mrs. Vinton went to work for FEMA as a disaster site coordinator, traveling throughout the U.S. to disaster sites. She then had the opportunity to enter the telecommunications industry, where she worked for several large companies as a site manager and training instructor. Twenty years ago she was forced into retirement after being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. Retirement afforded her more time to spend with her family, book clubs, yoga, and her many friends.
Mrs. Vinton is survived by her husband, Raymond, the boy next door she met at age 12 and to whom she was married for 59 years. She also leaves five children, Paula Vinton and Christine Wynter and her husband, Stanley, all of Hull, Brad Vinton and his wife, Ann, of Norwell, Janet Vinton and her fiancé, Ernesto Caparrotta, of Hull, and Glenn Vinton and his wife, Marianne, of Hingham. She is also survived by eight sisters and brothers: Patricia McHugh and her husband, Steven Best, of Brockton, Christine McHugh of Brockton, Peter McHugh and his wife, Sue, of Canton, Catherine Quigg and her husband, Billy, of Pembroke, Cora McHugh of Milton, John McHugh of Thailand, Paul McHugh and his wife, Christine, of Mansfield, and Virginia Scandlan-Keppler of Canton. Mrs. Vinton was also the proud Nana of Glenn and David of Hingham and Sean and Connor of Norwell; and also leaves 11 nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral Mass on Saturday at St. Ann’s Church, Hull, at 10:30 a.m. Donations may be made in memory of Paula Vinton to support the Pulmonary Fibrosis Research Fund at Brigham & Woman’s Hospital Development Office, 116 Huntington Ave., 3rd floor, Boston, MA 02116, or online at www.bwhgiving.org, or any other charity of your choice.
