Obituary: David F. Barry

David F. Barry, at 80
David F. Barry, of Hull and Florida, died April 2 at the age of 80.
Mr. Barry was the former owner of South Shore Bus and worked for many years at the state auditor’s office before retiring. He was an avid gardener, a self-taught mechanic, and all-around Mr. Fix It. He loved music, especially country music and Irish folk songs. But most of all he loved his home in Hull.
He was the husband of Judith (Pitaro) Barry and loving father of David F. Barry Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Halifax; Shannon F. Landry and her husband, David, of Roseville, Minn.; Sean A. Barry and his wife, Jennifer, of Taunton; and Mary M. Powers and her husband, Richard, of Hull.
He was the brother of John J. Barry and his wife, Grace, and Nelson G. Barry, both of Weymouth, and Marianne Parker, of Attleboro. He also leaves seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Barry was a dedicated lifelong friend to the late Harold Roche and the late Nicholas Pitaro. He considered himself to be an adoptive father figure to three of his best friends, Sam Germaine, Russell Mason, and Doug Gorham, as well as his brother-in-laws, Vincent Pitaro and the late Anthony Pitaro.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 8, at 11 a.m. in St. Ann’s Church, 208 Samoset Ave. Interment will follow, at Hull Village Cemetery.
