Susan L. (Turner) Keaney, age 72, died Nov. 23 at the William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Fla.
Ms. Keaney was born in Weymouth to Arthur and Hilda (DeYoung) Turner. She was raised and educated in Hull and was a graduate of Hull High School. She lived for many years in West Bridgewater, Bridgewater, Marshfield, and Plymouth before moving to Weymouth, where she retired. She worked for 17 years at John Harland Co. and 12 years at Party Lite.
Ms. Keaney was an avid beachgoer, venturing to the shores of Truro with loved ones. She enjoyed eating out, especially at her favorite Plymouth hot spots for lobster, and indulging her expertise in bargain-hunting at thrift stores. She embraced time with her grandchildren and loved sharing her own traditions with them during the holidays, especially her favorite baking recipes and dishes.
She was the beloved mother of Brian Keaney and his wife, Susan, of Bellingham; and Erica Catron and her husband, Roger, of Florida; and the cherished grandmother of Brenden, Aiden, and Landen Keaney of Bellingham and Turner Catron of Florida. She was the sister of Joyce Carey of Marshfield and the late Arthur Turner Jr. She was predeceased by her longtime companion, Donald Coombs, with whom she spent many happy years.
A period of visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 1-3 p.m. at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth. A memorial service will take place at the funeral home at 3 p.m.
