Gamblers Anonymous. Do you think you have a problem with compulsive gambling, or want to learn more about how to stop gambling? Gamblers Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other to help solve this common problem and help others to recover from a gambling problem. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop gambling. There are no dues or fees for Gamblers Anonymous membership, and the group is not allied with any religion or political organization. Head of the Weir. The Head of the Weir Race is a vibrant celebration of the estuary's fall beauty and showcases open-water rowers from across New England and New York. This 5.5-mile race starts at 11:30 a.m. at the headwaters of the Weir River, winds past Bumpkin Island, and finishes at the museum's Windmill Point Boathouse at Hull Gut, offering an exciting event for both participants and spectators. New England's Lifesaver: Coast Guard Legend Master Chief Downey with author W. Russell Webster, 2-3 p.m., Hull Lifesaving Museum, 1117 Nantasket Ave., Hull, donation $10. The Hull Lifesaving Museum was honored to host the presentation of the Coast Guard's first Ancient Keeper Award to John "Jack" Downey, a Rhode Island native who saved more than 700 mariners during over 5,000 rescues in New England waters. Hull-O-Ween Pumpkin Trail. 5-8 p.m., Hull Lifesaving Museum, 1117 Nantasket Ave., Hull, donation: $10/person, $20/family. Join us at the Hull Lifesaving Museum for a family-friendly "Hull-O-Ween" adventure filled with spooky and fun surprises! Start at the museum entrance and explore a trail dotted with pumpkins hidden in nooks and crannies, passing over 100 carved jack-o'-lanterns created by fellow Hullonians. Venture onto the pumpkin-lit deck, and if you're brave enough, continue through our haunted wilderness trail before returning to the main lawn. Adults can enjoy a selection of brews at our beer tent while the little ones revel in the Halloween activities. Sip on a cold one and soak up the spooky vibes! Qigong on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. Sandy O’Hara leads a class with roots in Chinese medicine, philosophy, and martial arts. Balance and Conditioning. The senior center is offering balance and conditioning classes. Each session consists of strength and conditioning exercises, stretches, and various balance drills designed to increase balance, strength, and flexibility. The stretching and strengthening exercises are focused on key muscles and joints to improve range of motion, strength, stability, awareness, and reaction time to prevent falls from poor balance. Chair Yoga on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Yoga can be practiced by everyone. It is an ideal activity for those with balance issues or looking to start a yoga practice slowly. It not only has the benefits of regular yoga, such as helping with stress, pain, and fatigue, but it can also help with joint lubrication, balance, and even age-specific issues like menopause and arthritis. Zumba Gold Tuesdays at 8:45 a.m. Using light weight-toning Moroccan sticks, Justine Hobin leads classes in rhythm-based movement that tones arms, core, and lower back. Veterans who served during the war on terror: The War Memorial Commission is seeking submissions for an update to the memorial wall. Active-duty dates 9/11/01 to 9/30/21. Bereavement Support Group. This free online support group begins on Tuesday, July 20, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will be ongoing. It is open to anyone who has experienced the death of someone they love. Registration is required. This support group will be held virtually via Zoom.
