The public is invited to a Boat Parade and Wreath Ceremony honoring Gold Star families and those lost at sea on Saturday, October 3.

The wreaths and flowers will be laid on the water from the Sgt. Joseph Bazinet Bridge (between Spinnaker Island and the mainland) and from boats on west side of the bridge

Participants are asked to arrive at the town pier at Mariners Park (between the Nantasket Beach Salt Water Club and the Hull Yacht Club) beginning at 11 a.m. There is free parking, and guests should check in with Sheila Fleck.

At 11:30 a.m., the ceremony will move to the bridge (either by boat or by car). Parking at Hull Village Cemetery is by the Gold Star Mothers’ Memorial at Duck Lane.

The boat parade of respect starts at noon; boats will parade on the west side of the Sgt. Joseph Bazinet Bridge from south to north in a continuous circle, or will remain at anchor.

Names of those lost at sea and Gold Star recipients will be read aloud, and wreaths will be placed in the water from boats and from the bridge.

At approximately 12:15 p.m. at end of the ceremony, boats on their final pass by the American flag on the bridge will sound six blasts of respect. Lunch will follow at the Nantasket Beach Salt Water Club at 1:00 p.m.

The event and info will broadcast on Channel 69.
