The grand finale of Hull’s commemoration of the nation’s 250th anniversary takes place this weekend, with festivities and fireworks on Friday night and a parade and field day on Saturday.

On Friday, August 14 at 5 p.m., the activities begin at the Hull Redevelopment Authority property, with live music, lawn games, and food trucks and a beer truck, leading up to a 30-minute fireworks display at 9 p.m. Entertainment will be by the Assisted Living band, and parking in the main area of the HRA land will be free for residents with restricted parking stickers. The other parking areas on the property will charge a fee.

On Saturday, August 15, the huge parade will step off from Revere Street at 11 a.m. and travel down Nantasket Avenue to L Street, where a field day is planned to bring together the community.

Hull’s Semiquincentennial Committee has selected four division grand marshals for the parade – Joseph A. DiVito Sr., Mary Jane Silva, Tim Dunn, and Herb Fleck.

Participants in the parade include Hull’s police and fire departments, veterans and military groups, community organizations, floats, patriotic-themed golf carts, classic cars, sports teams, marching bands, drum troupes, USS Constitution Color Guard, stilt walkers and wing dancers, performers and plenty of surprises.
