Bessie V. Diehl, at 94

Bessie V. [Karas] Diehl died Thursday, Nov. 17, at the age of 94.
Mrs. Diehl was born in Hull to immigrant parents, George Karas and Vzciliki Bessie Anastos Karas, in 1922.
At a young age, she started taking singing lessons in Hull and then at the Boston Conservatory, where she learned to sing opera. She married Daniel C. Diehl of Foxboro in 1946. A year later, Mrs. Diehl gave up a promising career as a singer to raise her family.
During WWII, she did her part by working at Harvey Radio Manufacturing Plant as a supervisor. Later in her life, she managed Second Hand Appliances of Hingham for 15 years. Mrs. Diehl loved to cook and to sing.
Mr. Diehl predeceased his wife. She leaves her children: Teddy and his companion, Lenore, Kenny and his wife, Gail, Aleta and her husband, Danny, and Bethel; a brother, Charles Karas of Hull; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Stella Peterson, Helen Demars, Stradi Karas, Theodora Thomas, Christopher Karas, Peter Karas, and Mary Karas.
