Obituary: Arnold Sherman

Arnold Sherman, at 87
Arnold Sherman, 87, died Jan. 2, after a brief illness. 
Mr. Sherman escaped with his family from Nazi Germany in 1939. He was a successful engineer and mentor, who always gave of himself and was loved by all who knew him. While living in Newton, he was involved with Temple Emanuel, but he made his special mark as a minyanaire and temple trustee at Hull’s Temple Beth Sholom. He made people’s lives better for having known him. 
He was the devoted husband of Naomi (Shapiro Greene) and the late Norma (Trust) and the beloved father of Ralph Sherman and his wife, Rose, Janet Sherman, and the late Hillery Sherman. 
Mr. Sherman was the stepfather of Eric Greene and his wife, Venus, Susan Murphy and her husband, Michael, and Sharon Kavanaugh; and the loving special grandfather (“Arnold”) of Alyssa Zisk, Katlin Murphy Sanchez, Matthew Murphy, Debra Greene, Alana Greene, and Christopher Kavanaugh.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m.  Sunday at Temple Beth Sholom, 600 Nantasket Ave. Mr. Sherman will be buried at Hull Village Cemetery. A kiddush at the temple will follow.
Shiva continues Sunday evening through Tuesday evening at his late residence, with a minyan at 7 p.m.
