Obituary: Charline Balmes

Charline Balmes, at 84
Charline B. (Shamaly) Balmes, 84, of Hull, died Feb. 11.
Mrs. Balmes was born in Boston to the late Rizallah F. Shamaly and Anna N. (Mourad) Shamaly. She grew up on Hartford Street in Dorchester and later moved to Braintree, then to Brockton. She loved to belly dance and to be outdoors and enjoyed nature at her previous home in New Hampshire and her final home in Hull.
She was the beloved wife of the late James B. Balmes and the loving mother of Robert L. May and his wife, Frances, of Brockton; Bernadette L. (May) Raftery and her husband, Peter, of Hull; and the late Linda M. (May) Molleur and her husband, Joseph, of Adams. She was the proud grandmother of the late Robert L. May Jr. of Brockton; Kimberley (May) Desmond and her husband, Joseph, of Coco, Fla.; and Mary-Catherine Raftery of Hull and the cherished great-grandmother of Joshuah May of Brockton and Robert Desmond of Coco, Fla. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings: Patrick, Louis, and Philip Shamaly; and her best friend and sister-in-law, Patricia Shamaly.  
Funeral services will be held today (Thursday), with burial at the National Cemetery at Bourne.
