Obituary: Margaret A. Caputo

Margaret A. Caputo, at 83
Former Nantasket Preschool owner Margaret A. (Hughes) Caputo died May 30. She was 83.
Known to friends and family as Marge but as “Mrs. Caputo” to generations of Hull kids and their parents, she owned and operated Nantasket Preschool for more than 30 years. She also taught early childhood education courses at the college level. After retiring from Nantasket Preschool, which is now the site of Seaside Montessori, Mrs. Caputo continued to lead an active life, taking continuing education courses and working part-time at the Boston Convention Center, where she was recently honored as Employee of the Month. As a member of the Castle Island Association, she organized and coordinated group outings.
Beloved wife of the late Charles T. Caputo of South Boston, formerly of Braintree; devoted mother of Susan (Caputo) Hudgens of Jacksonville, FL and the late Judith “Jude” Caputo of South Boston; she was the grandmother of Nicholas, Daniel, and Natalie; and great-grandmother of Reiner, all of Florida. She also leaves her brother, Frank Hughes; and sisters, Marie Keyes, Loretta Crowley, and Louise Small. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Hughes and Mary Jane (Caddigan) Hughes, and two brothers, George and Walter. 
Visitation will be held at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester St., South Boston, on Friday, June 14, from 6-8 p.m. Her funeral Mass will be held at St. Brigid Church, 841 East Broadway, on Saturday, June 15, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the Mass at the Braintree Cemetery, 250 Plain St., Braintree. Relatives and friends are invited to attend all services.
