Obituary: Alison Meryl Schnipper

Alison Meryl Schnipper, 28
Alison Meryl Schnipper, of Hull, died suddenly on July 10 after a long illness. She was 28.
The loving daughter of Amy Albert-Schnipper and Philip Schnipper, Alison was the cherished granddaughter of Eleanor Albert, of Hull, and Ethel Schnipper, of Florida; she was a beloved niece, cousin, and friend to many.
A graduate of Hull High School, class of 2008, Alison was a member of the National Honor Society and participated in high school sports and theater. She attended the Park School of Communications at Ithaca College where she was inducted into the Marketing Honor Society.
Her two years at Ithaca were joyful but interrupted by a diagnosis of leukemia and two subsequent stem cell bone marrow transplants for relapses. Despite the many medical and physical challenges she was confronted with, Alison completed a certificate in paralegal studies and graduated from Leslie University with honors.
“Schnip” will be remembered for her love of life, many friendships, and fun-loving spirit. She possessed a keen sense of humor, a quick wit, a loving nature, and a bright smile that will be missed by all.
She maintained a positive attitude and outlook, celebrating the accomplishments and travels of her friends; never self-pitying or complaining about her medical and physical challenges and limitations, she remained fun to be with.
Alison continued to volunteer in several capacities. She knitted or crocheted hats and scarves for the homeless and lap robes and shawls for nursing home patients. She supported the fundraising efforts for causes important to her friends, helping friends plan programs and activities. She lovingly maintained the website and weekly email blasts for Temple Israel of Nantasket.
Her family is grateful that her body gave out before her spirit, and her friends maintained their close relationships so that she still felt connected. Funeral services have been held, and burial was in the Hull Village Cemetery.
