Obituary: Catherine A. Scott

Catherine A. Scott

Catherine A. Scott, a longtime Hull resident, passed away on January 6 , 2026 after a brief illness. Her warmth and kindness brought ease to all who knew her, and her presence will be sorely missed.

Cathy was born and raised in Dorchester, where she met her husband, Anthony, a union bricklayer and avid scuba diver. In 1972, they had the good fortune to afford a small cottage in Hull, where they spent summers with their family and entertained their many lifelong friends. In 1990, Cathy and Anthony made Hull their year-round home.

Cathy held many accounting positions through the years and retired from Ellsworth Plumbing Supply in 2022 when she was almost 81. She enjoyed gardening and, as the family matriarch, her greatest joy was entertaining family and friends on her porch overlooking Straits Pond. Her love and compassion were boundless; she was a devoted advocate and tireless caregiver for her family, especially in her dedication to caring for her mother and husband in their later years.

Cathy was predeceased by her husband, Anthony; mother, Catherine; and her siblings, Margaret Nowlin and Daniel McDevitt. Cathy leaves behind her beloved daughters, Karla Scott of Cohasset and Lisa Campbell (Mark) of Hull; her two cherished grandsons Samuel (Meredith) and Griffin; and many friends.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday, January 15, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home in Cohasset, and a memorial Mass will be held on Friday, January 16 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, St. Ann Church, 208 Samoset Avenue.

Interment will be private. Donations in lieu of flowers in Catherine Scott’s memory may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society or Mass General Hospital ;pl(https://giving.massgeneral.org/donate).
