Obituary: Jack Wilson Morse
/Jack Wilson Morse, at 99
Jack Wilson Morse passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was 99 years old. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family, especially his wife, Jeanne Morse, after 76 years of a love-story marriage.
Born in Chicago to Rebecca Fitzgerald and Ralph Morse, Jack grew up in Crystal, Minnesota, and attended Robbinsdale High School. He proudly served in WWII in the Army Air Corps in the Philippines. He received a sharpshooter medal and attained the rank of sergeant. Following his military service, he earned his bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Minnesota, which led to his career as a sixth-grade teacher.
Jack later entered the insurance business, opening several successful Farmers Insurance branches. Although he enjoyed a successful and lucrative career, family always came first, and a decision was made to remain local and spend more time with his family. Jack stepped away from the insurance business and joined the police department in New Hope, Minnesota. During his 10 years on the force, he rose through the ranks to become chief of police.
While serving his community as chief, Jack simultaneously worked on his master’s in public administration and graduated from the FBI Academy. These experiences created a path for his next career move, leading him and his family to Massachusetts. He was recruited by Harvard University in Cambridge and settled in Hull. As deputy chief, he was instrumental in the conversion of the security force into an active police force. He eventually served as acting chief before retiring.
Retirement did not slow Jack down. He and Jeanne created a beautiful antique restoration fine art furniture business that made the map. Jack also worked with FEMA and was instrumental in the efforts to serve and support many of our nation’s weather tragedies. He also served as president of the church council at Lutheran House of Prayer in Hingham. His faith and his desire to serve others remained important parts of his life.
Jack found his greatest joy in the people and simple pleasures he loved most. He cherished his time with his wife, traveling the world many times, spending time with family and his beloved dogs, and even a cat or two. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making people feel welcome.
Jack was a true citizen, a man of faith who loved his country, family, and his community. He was strong and calm in difficult moments and deeply devoted to those he loved.
Beloved husband of 76 years of Jeanne E. (Cossette) Morse of Hull. Devoted father of Kevin Michael Morse of Minneapolis; Sam Alan Morse and his wife, Penny K., of Oak Grove, Minnesota; Joseph Jack Morse and his wife, Elizabeth, of Weymouth; Kathleen Sullivan and her husband, Vinnie, of Hull; and Ned Wilson Morse and his wife, Mary, of Hull. Adoring grandfather of Taylor A. Morse, Caroline J.M. Sullivan, Brendan V.P. Sullivan, Josiah J.W. Morse, and Elijah G.R. Morse. Loving brother of the late Curt Morse, Margaret Lee, and Patricia Flaa. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
