Obituary: Nancy Lee Bowman

Nancy Lee Bowman, at 74

Nancy Lee Bowman, a longtime Hull resident, passed away peacefully at the age of 74 at Life Care Center of the South Shore in Scituate on September 1, 2026 after a long battle with dementia and cancer.

Nancy was born on June 7, 1952 to the late Kolin and Pauline Marsell and grew up in Braintree, where she was a graduate of the class of 1970. She was fortunate to build lifelong friendships in her youth there, and stayed in touch with classmates until her passing. She worked for the telephone company for many years and also spent a lot of time house cleaning, where she continued to create bonds that lasted and were treasured for a lifetime.

Above all, Nancy was known for being a loving mother, aunt, and friend. A longtime supporter of youth sports, she spent many years in hockey rinks, on football fields, and at baseball diamonds watching her nephews play. She was also fortunate enough to see her great nieces and nephew continue on the sporting legacy that she cherished so much.

Nancy’s brightest light and legacy came when she had her first and only child, Katie.

Nancy was cherished by the Hull Public School system, not only as a favorite chaperone on school field trips, but as someone known to show up to make the class of 2011 laugh as much as possible. Nancy was also invited to read “The Giving Tree” to generations of first graders long after Katie had graduated from the Hull school system. Nancy coached T-ball, soccer, softball, and was a constant and welcome cheerleader on the lacrosse sidelines.

Although Nancy never remarried, she had a great network that she kept close to her heart. She was a season ticket holder for the New England Free Jacks, her beloved rugby team. She knew many of the players and staff and considered a lot of them to be family. She spent more than 20 years in Hull, and lived in Rockland for close to a decade.

Having passed on September 1, Nancy has reunited with her late siblings, Paula Hendrickson of Hull, Linda Sullivan of Port St. Lucie Florida, and David Marsell of Baldwinsville, NY. She leaves her ex-husband, Robert Bowman Sr. of Punta Gorda, Florida, and her daughter, Katie Alden Kiehl, as well as her partner, Jen Rheaume, of Belmont.

Nancy’s life also is celebrated by many nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own: Paula Coffey and her husband, Alan, of Port St. Lucie; Christine Hendrickson of Port St. Lucie; Mark Hendrickson and his wife, Chrissy, of Hanover; Michael Hendrickson of Mississippi; David Marsell, Jr. and his partner, Paige, of Braintree; and Danielle Marsell of Baldwinsville. She also leaves behind two great-nieces, Bella and Lexi, and three great nephews, Matthew, Cole, and Henry.

In honoring Nancy’s wishes for no services, a private service will be held for the family at a later date. To best celebrate her life, please enjoy a hot fudge sundae or a piece of cake in her memory.
