Obituary: Nina Thomas

Nina Thomas, at 81

Nina Thomas passed away on June 22, 2025. She was born August 14, 1943, to her late parents Rowena (Poucher) and former Hull Police Sergeant George E. Thomas.

Ms. Thomas was predeceased by her son, Darrin Thomas (Elaine). She is survived by her daughter, Christina Thomas Currie, and her grandchildren Amanda and John Currie, Jessica, Andrew and Ryan Thomas, many nieces and nephews and cousins. She leaves behind her brothers Ralph Thomas of Florida, Mel Thomas (Donna) of Florida, Phil Thomas (Connie) of Hull, and former sister-in law Heidi Shabazz of Marshfield. Ms. Thomas was predeceased by her brother, Ray Thomas (Diane) of Hull, and her sister, Ramona White of Hawaii.

Ms. Thomas was born and raised in Hull. She loved being a mother and doted on her babies.  She worked in the shipping department of Talbots clothing store in Hingham for several years.
Seeking warmer weather, Ms. Thomas retired to Arizona and stayed for 22 years. Always a lover of animals, she volunteered to help injured or sick cats, dogs and birds. She enjoyed her time in Arizona, but she always missed the ocean and she returned to her hometown, where she reunited with old friends and made many new friends. She was so happy being at the ocean again. She walked the beach almost every day with her friends, collecting beautiful shells, unique rocks, and colorful sea glass.

As her health declined, Ms. Thomas could not walk the beach anymore, so she filled her time watching and rooting for all the Boston sports teams. She never missed Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy and was addicted to crossword and brain-game puzzles, at which she excelled.

Ms. Thomas was very appreciative of all the help from her dear friends when she was housebound and then their daily visits to the hospital and hospice with her favorites – dark chocolate, Milano cookies, flowers, and plants. Their caring friendship was a gift that she cherished.

Ms. Thomas was content and accepting in her last days and was at peace when she passed.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, August 9 at 11 a.m. at Hull Village Cemetery.

The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at the Pat Roche Hospice Home for the excellent and loving care that they provided to Nina.
