Obituary: Lois I. Lichtenberger

Lois I. Lichtenberger, at 86

Lois I. Lichtenberger of Hull, 86, passed away at home on August 17, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Lois was the daughter of the late G. Wallace McMonagle and Vera (Waterhouse) McMonagle. Lois is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Ronald Lichtenberger; her children, Janice Lichtenberger and her partner, Richard Morris; Linda Lichtenberger; and Paul Lichtenberger, all of Hull. She is also survived by her sister, Janice Kroboth, and her husband, Thomas Kroboth, of Colorado; and Bryant Hamer of Vermont, as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Alice Hamer.

Lois was born on August 26, 1939. She graduated from Hingham High School in 1957, then worked as a switchboard operator for the Town of Hull. Married in 1959, she left the town hall to become a homemaker and raise her family.
Lois loved the Boston Red Sox. She had the biggest heart for all animals – dogs, cats, birds, and rabbits – and always made sure they were taken care of. Growing up, there were many cats and dogs in her home. Lois enjoyed baking; if you ask family, friends, or neighbors, they would say she made the best chocolate chip cookies.

Our family is deeply grateful to all the devoted caregivers at Croi Health for their care and kindness to Lois.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, August 29, at 11 a.m. at Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond Street, Hingham. Interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Croi Health, 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061, or Hull Seaside Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 787, Hull, MA 02045.
