/Alan F. Dow, at 79
Alan F. Dow 79 of Hanover, formerly Hull, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Mr. Dow was born on February 14, 1946 in Hull. He was the son of Lillian Dow and was one of seven children. He is survived by sister, Grace Madden of Marshfield, and was preceded in death by sisters Nancy Polito of Cohasset, Leslie Franke of Weymouth, Doris Dow of Hull, and brothers Ted Dow of Rhode Island, and Phil Dow of Hull.
Mr. Dow married Deborah Parsons on February 9, 1986, in Whitman. They were married for 39 years. He was a member of the Daniel Webster Masonic Lodge and worked for several years as a sheet metal worker, and later in life, at the South Shore Hospital.
Mr. Dow is survived by children Kimberly Dinneen and her husband, David, of Weymouth; Robert MacNeil of Hull; Krista Gannon and her husband, Ryan, of Weymouth; Tanya Ciavola of Abington; and Sarah King and her husband, Christopher, of Halifax. He was the grandfather of Bella Ciavola of Abington, Olivia MacNeil of New Hampshire, Ryan Carita-Daly of Weymouth, and Rylee Carita-Gannon of Weymouth. Mr. Dow also is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed fishing, coaching his daughters’ softball teams, and loved to make people laugh by cracking jokes. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, July 26, at Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects.
