John Matthew Wood Jr., at 63

John Matthew Wood Jr. 63 of Hull passed away on August 21, 2025.

Known as Matt, he was raised in Braintree by Matt and Carol Wood alongside his four younger brothers, Mike, Mark, Jeffery, and Troy.

Mr. Wood graduated from Blue Hills VoTech in 1980 with a mastery in carpentry. He then spent most of his life as a self-employed carpenter, ranging from Boston brownstones to Cape McMansions, eventually landing in his favorite spot on Jerusalem Road. Mr. Wood always took pride in keeping good friends and good people on his team. He never left a job site without a new friend. Although most of his days were spent devoted to his craft, Mr. Wood of course had his fair share of fun. He loved to ride his motorcycle, yearly trips to Laconia for Bike Week with his friends, bringing his family to the Cape in the summer, and of course, taking any and all opportunities to enjoy a trip into Boston for a game.

Mr. Wood was the devoted husband of Lori (Lynch) Wood for 31 years. He leaves behind two daughters and one son: Morgan, Gavin, and Clancy, along with one grandson, Cruz.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday August 28, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St, Hingham.

A funeral Mass will be held Friday, August 29 at 10 a.m. at St Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington St., Braintree.

Burial will follow at Hull Village Cemetery.
